“I had a truly wonderful experience with the Natural Birth Center for my daughter’s birth. After a less than ideal hospital birth with my first, I was determined that with my second I would have a different experience. And different it was. Starting with the prenatal visits, my husband and I were made to feel like Simona and co had all the time in the world for us. The midwives (all certified nurse midwives) we saw were just lovely. Simona was there most appointments also, even if we weren’t seeing her she always chatted with us and made sure we didn’t have any unanswered questions. When I ended up going past my due date, Simona helped us navigate differing recommendations from ultrasound doctors to avoid being induced. When my water broke, Simona was in constant contact with us, and actually sent one of her midwifery students to our house to coach us through early labor and help us decide when to go in to the center. It was really amazing to have that level of support. Once we were at the center, Simona, another midwife, and the student midwife were all there – they left me alone to labor with my husband but were right there if I needed. My water broke at noon, I went into the center at 3:30 and I pushed my daughter out in the tub at 6pm. We had a few hours to bond and recuperate, and we were home in our own bed with our new baby that evening. I couldn’t have asked for a better labor experience, and to sleep in my own bed that night rather than being woken up hourly in a hospital was just amazing. To top it all off, since I gave birth on a Friday, a midwife came to my house for the initial follow up visit on Sunday. Three other follow up visits were included as well. (With my first the doc just said see you in six weeks!) I just can’t imagine having had a better level of personal care than I did with the Natural Birth Center. Because I have a PPO, they were able to bill insurance for the majority of the fee, and helped my navigate requesting an in-network exception so that the insurance paid at an in-network level.
