Jennifer Buchanan, CNM, WHNP-BC, IBCLC

Jennifer Buchanan, or Jen to her friends and clients, holds board certifications as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Lactation Consultant. She started her career in healthcare as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. After working for several years she transitioned to a role as Perinatal Nurse Care Manger to help pregnant women whose babies had been diagnosed with birth complications. During this time she added to her education by completing training as an International Board Certified Lacatation Consultant.

After seeing what a positive impact a health care provider could have during prenatal care and birth she went back to graduate school at Georgetown University to pursue an advanced practice degree as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health NP. Since graduation she has been working with a private OB/GYN, Planned Parenthood and the Natural Birth Center. Jennifer also has a private practice as a Lactation Consultant and provides breastfeeding support to women in the comfort of their home. Her passions are to provide clients with the birth of their choice, while maintaining a safe and calm environment.
