Alexandra Bratschie, CNM, WHNP, MSN

AlexAt 15 years-old Alexandra witnessed her aunt give birth to her cousin at home and knew that she wanted to be involved in the birthing world. She has the vivid image of her aunt on a blue birthing ball, humming, and laughing at various points during labor. At such a young age, she had no idea what to expect at this moment of birth, but remembers never feeling afraid or scared. The midwife that was there was so calm, sure, and supportive that she knew she wanted to be a part of this experience again and again.

Alexandra is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C where she received a dual certification in Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her first Bachelor of Science from the University of Colorado-Boulder and her Bachelor of Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Alexandra has been in the field on women’s health for years in different capacities and in different countries, including six years as a labor doula. She has been with women as they gave birth in the most advanced and most resource-deprived hospitals in the U.S and in Africa, in beautiful birth centers, and in the comfort of their own home.

Alexandra treats each birth with the same joy and love of the first birth she witnessed. She wants every woman and family to feel respected, loved, safe, and a part of the decision making process for their birth. Alexandra knows that laughter goes far, and that women deserve to be empowered and supported to have the birth they deserve.

When Alexandra is not working as a midwife, she spends her time teaching breastfeeding classes at NBC & WW and her own FitBirthLA classes around Los Angeles. She enjoys being with her family, any outdoor activities, and exploring California with her husband.
